Kathleen Marie DeVivo September 27th 1961 – January 20th 2008 Kathy leaves behind her husband Tom, her daughter Amanda, her son Benjamin and her cat’s Marley & Louis as well as many sister-in-laws, brother-in-law’s, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind many other family members and lots of friends. Kathy attended local schools, graduating from Windham High in 1979 with many friends who remained by her side till death. Prior to her death she was a recent graduate of Quinebaug Valley Community College and held an AS in Social Work. She worked long and hard to graduate and was very proud of her achievement. Kathy loved life, and everyone she met instantly became her friend. She was employed by TVCCA and delivered meals to the elderly. She loved her job and would often ask her family and friends to do her route with her so she could introduce them to her clients. Her eclectic life was full of girlfriends, children and family. There were never too few to hold a party. She had a knack for listening… and talking, she could talk to a stone until it rolled over. Kathy spent her summers soaking up the sun at her cottage on Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme. One of her favorite things to do was to send her nieces and nephews out to scour the beach for shells and sea glass, and then teaching them to create art from their findings. She was able to grow many flowers and grew sever envious gardens. She was especially proud of her miniature rose bushes. Kath loved the sun and the sun loved her. Her skin was always beautifully bronzed. Kathy loved music and was fortune enough to meet her musical hero Jonathan Edwards at the Shaboo Festival the summer before her death. It is a memory her family will never forget. She was adept at making jewelry and all her friends wear it proudly. She was Chairwoman of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and had many sisters. She was a good sister and an even better Mom. She was tough, soft, loving and kind, and she could make one mean Cosmo. Kathy loved to travel, and she was always packed and ready for a vacation. She has cruised, driven cross country and flown to many destinations. Her favorite spot was closest to home, Hershey PA especially during Christmas time. Tom and she took Amanda and Ben there every Christmas. Kathy would like to be remembered by two motto's “Always be kind” and “Live Laugh Love.” She would like everyone to go forth and do both.
