Kandy Lee Scully August 8th 1963 – May 1st 1999 Kandy was the youngest of the Kozin Girls. She was Peggy’s baby girl and fondly called her “Kandy-Babes.” When Kandy was born, Peggy wanted to name her Kandy Cane Kozin but decided against it. How cool would that have been? Kandy was an active participant in the fight against AIDS and was instrumental in founding and promoting the annual Dance for a Cause sponsored by the Windham Aids Program. In addition she provided care and support to many afflicted by the disease as a volunteer for the Buddy Program. She is also remembered as a much valued volunteer for Curbstone Press. Kandy loved poetry and was a very talented sculptor and wood carver. Kandy loved Halloween and even married her ex-husband on Halloween night. All her guests dressed in costume! Kandy had many friends during her short life. She loved spending time with Amanda and Ben. All three of them, and her cat Inka, would sleep in her huge waterbed. They would play games and talk. Those are memories that will never be forgotten. She also enjoyed having house parties. Many times she would invite everyone over with clothes that didn’t fit or they didn’t like anymore. Then everyone would swap clothes and go home with new wardrobes. Kandy was the only Kozin girl to get a tattoo (a tradition her niece now carries on). One summer she decided to get a small bat tattooed on the back of her neck. It was so cool. Kandy’s eccentric life was well lived and well loved. Being the first of Peggy’s daughters born, she was also the first to pass on. We miss her everyday and wonder what life would be like if she was still here.
